Who we are
This website is run by Amrita - Industry Initiatives, an initiative by Amrita School of Computing, Amritapuri (Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham) and MeitY, Government of India. It lets people find our events (workshops, bootcamps and similar programmes) and register for them. For any privacy question, write to amritaindustryinitiative@gmail.com.
Signing in with Google
Participants sign in with their Google account. When you do, Google tells us only your name and your email address and confirms that the email address is verified. We do not receive your Google password, and we do not get access to your Gmail, contacts, Drive, calendar or anything else in your Google account.
Your email address identifies your account on this website, so that you can come back to see, change or delete your registrations. Your name is used to fill in the registration form for you.
What we collect when you register
The registration form asks only the questions the chosen event needs, so you may not see all of these:
- Identity and contact: title, name, gender, date of birth, email address, mobile number, permanent address, state, district and PIN code.
- Identity proof: the type of ID (for example Aadhaar or PAN) and only the last 4 digits of its number. We never ask for the full number or a copy of the card. Optionally, your APAAR (ABC) ID.
- Education or work: participant category, qualification, branch, semester or year, programme, institution or company, campus, department and roll number.
- Reporting details: social category, whether you are a person with disability and whether you belong to a minority community.
- A passport-size photo.
- Event-specific details where the event asks for them: how you will attend, accommodation needs and preference, the name to print on your certificate, payment reference and a screenshot of your payment, your Amrita email and Google Skills profile link, and answers to the event's own questions.
Attendance: if the event takes attendance by QR code, we record the email you enter and the time of each scan.
Photos and payment screenshots are made smaller in your browser before they are sent. This also removes hidden details such as the location where a photo was taken.
How we use it
- To register you for the event, manage seats and the waitlist, and check payments where a fee applies.
- To run the event: attendance, accommodation, certificates and contacting you about the event.
- To prepare the reports that the programme's funders, including MeitY, Government of India, require about who took part.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who can see it
- You: your own registrations, under your Dashboard.
- The event organisers: the coordinators at Amrita who run the events, through a password-protected dashboard.
- A guest reviewer, if one is assigned: a read-only account that sees only the events it is given and only a limited set of fields (for example name, contact details, education and payment status). It cannot see your photo, date of birth, address, ID details, category, disability or minority information.
- Reporting: summary or participant details required for reports to the programme's funders, as described above.
Where it is stored
The website runs on Cloudflare. Registrations, photos and payment screenshots are kept in private storage that only this website can read; there is no public link to them. Information travels between your browser and the website over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Google provides the sign-in, under Google's privacy policy.
Cookies and storage on your device
- One sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to 12 hours. It is needed for the site to work and is not used for tracking.
- While you fill in a registration form, your answers are saved in your own browser so that you do not lose them if the page reloads. They are removed when you submit.
- When you click Save or Continue, your answers so far (not your photo or payment screenshot) are also saved in the website's private storage, so that you can finish on another device. This saved copy is deleted when you submit, when you delete your account, or within a day after registration for the event closes.
- Google's sign-in button may set its own cookies, as described in Google's privacy policy.
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep a registration for as long as it is needed to run the event and to complete the reporting described above, or until you delete it. The organisers may also delete registrations after an event.
Your choices and rights
- See and change: open your Dashboard to see your registration and change it while registration is open.
- Delete a registration: use Delete registration there. It is removed together with your photo, payment screenshot and attendance record.
- Delete your account: use Delete my account there. This removes every registration and your account. If you are confirmed for an event that is running at that time, that registration and your account are kept until two weeks after the event's last day, so attendance and certificates can be completed, and are then deleted automatically; the page tells you the date.
- Anything else: to ask what we hold about you, to correct something you can no longer edit, or to raise a concern, write to amritaindustryinitiative@gmail.com. We will reply as soon as we can.
Children
Our events are meant for college and university students, faculty, professionals and job seekers. If you are under 18, please register only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
